MN2012 second video ad

5th Mesopotamian Night will present the Assyrian songs 0f 1970s by composer Vania David and lyrics writer Misha Ashoorian. The songs are orchestrated by Edwin Elieh. Assyrian singers Rita Toma Davoud, Jowan David, Salem Sefo, Tony Gabriel and Lazar Malko will perform these songs at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 18th 2012. The event is sponsored by the Assyrian Aid Society of America, a 501c California organization. Tickets are available for sale at box office and at this web site.

Malek Rama: The Handsome Prince is an Assyrian musical based a poem by late Hannibal Alkhas and composed by Edwin Elieh. The work is commissioned by Assyrian Aid Society of America thanks for a generous grant from the Naby Frye Assyrian Culture Fund and in honor of Mishael and Lillie Naby. It will be premiered on February 18, 2012 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts in Bay area California. Tickets are available for sale now at box office and at this link.

New CD/DVD: Assyryt: The Assyrian Diamond

It is a pleasure to announce to the Assyrian community and all enthusiasts of Assyrian music and culture that the DVD/CD product from the Mesopotamian Night 2009 concert fundraiser is almost ready. In the meantime enjoy the following trailer for the DVD. The details will be announced later. The DVD is named "Assyryt: The Assyrian Diamond" in honor of late Rabi Paulos Khofri and his beautiful music suite "Assyryt" which was composed in 1984 in Tehran.

In Memory of Rabi William Daniel

The memories of Mesopotamian Night 2008 and the celebration of the music of William Daniel is again revived with the following clip from Victor Davoody. Once the DVD of the Mesopotamian Night 2009 is out we will have more clips to celebrate the art, music, and poetry of this Assyrian legend.

Lecture on Mesopotamian Music

In search of good lectures about Mesopotamian Music, we came across this some twenty years old lecture by Rabi Paulos Khofri in Tehran. We thought it is a good source for education about our music so we put it on YouTube in three different clips as well as on aasacvcc.blip.tv. The blip.tv is one full 20-minutes clip.

The following slide show is a two minute sample from Assyryt No. 1. Mesopotamian Night 2009 will present two 10-minute Symphonic Suites named Assyryt No.1 and Assyryt No.2.

Mesopotamian Night 2007 Slide Show

Some of our audience have asked for information about Mesopotamian Night 2007, after watching the DVD of the Mesopotamian Night 2008. The Mesopotamian Night 2007 theme was different. While the theme was still cultural, but it was an outdoor event with full dinner and only one hour performance from the opera Inanna. The video recording for MN2007 is available but it was never released because of the low quality of the video. However we will try to post some video clips later.

For now enjoy the moments of the Mesopotamian Night 2007. In 2008 we lost two great friends who helped us with both 2007 and 2008 events: Mr. Eric Buck Townsend the director of opera in Modesto who was instrumental in helping us bringing opera to the Assyrian community and our dear friend and hardworking member of AAS-A Central Valley Chapter Committee, Susan Rasho. This slide show is also a tribute to their memory.
